Great shave with this "Tom's", German made for Cogswell Labratories in Lowell, Mass. The only sad thing about too many razors is some must take their place in display as others get a turn in rotation. This one has been a fun and close shaver for about a year. I will miss it for a while. It is a good one!
May all have a Blessed Week!
Tom

Thanked: 1185Sunday Shave and Haircut: Wow! Just Wow! Now y'all know I'm a straight razor guy through and through but I just can't imagine ANYTHING rendering a better shave than I had today. Lukewarm shower, 2 passes on the spud and three on the face. This is BBS! There were a few distinctions about this shave. First, I don't remember the last time I did WTG, XTG, ATG. Second I can get a few angles with a safety razor that I can't comfortably complete with a straight (i.e. ATG under my nose, and a true ATG on my neck.) I think maybe I'd like to play with my SE collection this week. If today's shave with the 1910 Lather Catcher is any indication there will be some fantastic shaves this week.

SUNDAY
Hot shower prep
Razor: 11/16ths" John Jay ~1920
Soap: VDH
Mug: Coffee Mug and lathered in the soup cup
Brush: Home made
Aftershock: Alum block
Splash: Home made Bay Rum
Back for the day, I got a couple things off the list but many more to do. The Razor has been in my to-do box for a long time and its day had come. It took a while because the grind was uneven but the shave made it worth the trouble!
The Bay Rum is about 120 proof and contains Bay leaves, lemon extract, cinnamon, clove, Dark Rum and 190 proof Vodka! It has been brewing for about 6 weeks and was decanted and strained yesterday. It has a great Holiday scent that lasts for hours. The fun of trying things makes the day go a bit better and quicker!

I dropped in today to wish you all a great week of personal success and great shaves! I still have things to get done so my posts will be sporadic.

Quick Shave in the shower.
Hot shower (which is a luxury around here to some)
Cade Soap
Badger Brush
Gillette Fatboy, Wilkinson blade
Bay Rum After shave
Moved some generators around from friends who have power to those that don't. Luckily,a long time friend is an electrician so he is able to hook up the portable gen to their heat. It got cold here this weekend and they say another storm is heading this way.
Hope everyone is well.“Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.”

What a shave! Just received this razor yesterday. I have a thing for old choppers, and this one didn't disappoint. This thing is so heavy, my arms were tired by the end of a fantastic three pass shave. My wife is absolutely wonderful, she let's me keep my restored 1905 Koken in the bedroom. There's not much that's better than a shave after two hot towels while relaxing in this wonderful shave. I hope everyone enjoys what remains of the weekend and has a great week.

Thanked: 485Pretty good, but the bone at the top isn't knitting yet. It doesn't bother him, he's very used to it being in his sling now. We'll go back to the surgeon soon for more x rays and hopefully there's been some progress. Then he'll have arm lengthening procedures as it's now noticeably shorter than the other arm. He's stacked on the weight lately. I like to see him looking so well, of course, considering what he looked like a few months ago...

Sunday is always special. I use my grandpas old straight.
It's funny, no other razor (not even the hot rods I have invested dearly in) shave as good as this one!
