Well, how did this sneak up on me? 1000 posts. A good time to reflect on my time here on SRP and say a BIG thank you to everyone who has helped me settle into this weird little addiction, as well as everyone who has offered so generously of their time and expertise not only to help me along my way, but also to create such a welcoming and gentlemanly (most of the time!) slice of the web. Merci beaucoup à tous!

It was in original condition, faded red, well-worn, but nice.
This was and still is my favorite combination; beautiful, original, and worn.

    Location: Pearl Harbor, HAWAII
    Prep: Hot shower
    Brush: Haryali London Silvertip
    Razor: C-MON Cadillac
    Soap/Cream: TOBS Shave Shop (sample)
    Scuttle/mug: milk-glass bowl
AS: Truefitt & Hill Grafton (sample)
    strop: SRD 2" nylon/black latigo (30x/60x)
    Result: BBS!

This C-MON is my best shaver. As near-perfect of a shave today as I've ever had, and no cuts! I find myself trying NOT to shave with it so I will work harder on getting my other razors up to this. It's pretty clear that most of my cuts are now related to struggling with sharpness of blade, plain and simple!
The TOBS Shave Shop was nice, but I think I've about settled on the Jermyn St. line as my favorite from TOBS.
As for after-shave, I'm jealously conserving every last drop of my Grafton sample. I've looked at getting the whole line, and it's a bit expensive!

Now I have to go through a bunch of samples that are something less than what I prefer, but hopefully I'll discover another jewel or two...

Touching up is a little honeing session, honing is a big honing session...

Let me put it this way, touching up is dropping in to the pub after work for a quick pint. Honing is where you start on the pale ale, make your way to the dark ale, end up on whisky with stout chasers and sing raucous songs with the lads until way after midnight and get a curry on the way home that ends up on your shoes and the footpath. Does that make sense?

I think often the number of laps depends on how aggressive the hone is, but I'm probably talking shit again...

    Wednesday

The J A Hellberg swished across the strop this morning like the lovely thing that it is, and then proceeded to swish across my face in two passes, leaving me happy and satisfied and ready for the day.

Proraso soap/cream is great in hotish weather and this morning I face lathered it rather than lathering in a bowl; in fact I rarely bowl lather these days. Floïd was once again choice of scent.

Afterwards, a reasonable cappuccino was manufactured by yours truly, the route to work was driven, the morning work routine was undertaken, lunch was had (warm lamb salad), the afternoon work schedule was endured, a carton of beer was purchased, the route home was travelled, the beer ‘Dos Equis’ is currently being ingested with astonishing rapidity

BTW, have a guess at what the background to my picture is!!
