What a great shave very smooth, and the very first shave for this NOS Merkur stainless steel razor.

Sunday

The shave is actually from Friday...

I returned from camping today after being away since Thursday. I went to Deep Creek Conservation park all by myself, which was rather invigorating but also a little boring. Thursday was a hot day and after setting up camp I went straight away to the beach and lay on my back in the water with arms out to the side and closed my eyes for as long as I could; which was about a minute. It was a hot quiet night; a really special night.

Friday morning I shaved with the Jernbolaget and Proraso after breakfasting on Kippers. I found you can use the Proraso lid as a bowl. The shave was rubbish; I had no mirror or strop, I used the car windows as a mirror. I then went for a three hour hike to Boat Harbour beach, during the hike I saw no-one, but I did see five Shingleback lizards. I said hello to each. Later that evening I went for a walk and chanced upon a Short Billed Echidna, who I said hello to, and who I praised for his neatly folded spines.

On Saturday I went to the beach again and also found some rocks to climb. I returned to the campsite for a snack and returned to the beach to read 'Shame' by Salman Rushdie. After returning from the beach and having a shower I took off into the bush with a Heineken, headphones and The Brian Jonestown Massacre (Spacegirl and Other Favourites) and just following animal paths (I love following animal paths in the bush) through the bush until I found a nice little glade. I sat there for maybe an hour just watching the light on the hills. On the return journey I came across a flock of Sulphur Crested Cockatoos who screamed and shouted at me until I went away. I did not say hello to the Cockatoos, I swore at them and laughed at them.

This morning I again went to the beach and then returned home. It was a really nice time; the first time I'd been all by myself for this long in maybe 20 years or more.

My First bouldering 'problem' near Blowhole Beach (which I named 'You're My Sunshine' from a Brian Jonestown Massacre song I was listening to), it's very easy, but after doing it ten times you start to get a good workout happening; it's about 12 to 15 feet to the top. You can see my chalk marks on the holds.


My Second 'bouldering 'Problem' which I named 'Crushed' (A BJM song). I wanted this one to hook up with 'You're My Sunshine' and traverse without placing my feet in the hollow. I almost got it and then got fearful. Even at this height if I'd fallen I would have hurt myself on the rocks below. I wasn't able to do what I wanted to do on this. Maybe next time.

The Rodgers is one of those razors that I could always get a good edge on but not a great one.
I took it to the new Norton 4/8 and Naniwa 12K, now its great.
These stones are really impressing me, seems they can put a sweet edge on anything.
I like the SRD Vanilla Bourbon more every time I use it.
An awesome Sunday shave.

The Rodgers is such a good lookin' razor IMO, I love taking photos of the tang.

Difficult to hone razor due to the thin spine but worth it in the end, singing BBS! The Joris/Speick mix was a bit over the top, but who cares . Have a great Sunday (now back to Murray/Djokovic)!
