I've been curious about JA's Slick Water. How do you like it?
TOBS Victorian Lime is one of my favorite warm weather colognes. How does the aftershave compare?
    Thanks, in advance.

John Allen's Slick Water is a good product, but it is not exceptional like Castle Forbes. I had a couple sample bottles of it that I needed to finish. Through the years I have used a variety of pre-shaves and concluded that, for me, none comes near Castle Forbes.
Ah, yes, the Taylor of Old Bond Street No. 74 Victoria Lime. The aftershave is quite complex for a lime variety and an absolute delight for summertime. I am traveling and had a small dispenser already filled with the aftershave. Ordinarily, I wear it in summer and opt for the heavier aftershaves in winter.

    Tuesday evening
    Hot water prep
Henckels #14 razor - All Hail da Fat! - Cyril Salter travel badger brush - cold water splash - Thayer's Rose resplash - T&H 1805 balm - hot towel - L'Oreal re-balm - Harris Arlington as

I had so far only given this razor touch-ups on the cot and today on the Thuri after I got it from the Bay. Turns out, there wasn't much to touch up. When the bevel isn't good, the edge isn't good and no Thuri for sure will improve it. This one goes back to the hones for bevel setting. The shave was mediocre at best, but I did finish it, because I had another #14 Henckels before and I know there's more in this blade than what it is showing at this point. Luckily, the Fat was there to protect my face from this one...
This "fine" shave was enjoyed to the tunes of Stanley Turrentine - Look out! (1960)

At least the music was good...

    Prep: Hot Shower
Razor: W&B 7/8 American Razor, Near Wedge
    Strop: SRD Premium I
    Brush: none
Cream: Barbasol that's been in the cupboard for a few years
    A/S: none

Result: Early morning shave, late post. I had a dentist appointment early this morning, so I decided to shower and shave in the main bathroom rather than in our master bath to let my wife get some much needed sleep. So I used a can of Barbasol and, well, I had an excellent shave. In fact, it's past 5 p.m. here in California, and my face still feels good. It helps when you have a good shaver like this Wade & Butcher.

No cavities, so, yes, it has been a good day. Hope yours was as well.
