Well, -I- couldn't get it to lather. I tried about an almond sized drop in a bowl yesterday with a brush. After adding more soap and more water only to see it absorb into the brush I read the bottle. It says to apply directly to face and allow a thin layer to rest. I assume it isn't supposed to lather, but I could be wrong.

    Well todays shave was interesting,
Just two passes and if I had not seen the stubble I would not have thought I was accomplishing anything.
I have been playing with a project for the past couple of days.
I had read a few threads about this, it sounded like a challenge and so when I saw it I snagged it up.
Gentlemen I present for your pleasure and my shave of the day a shave ready microtome.

    *Prep: quick shower
    *Strop: Illinois #827
    *Soap: Poraso Green
    *Brush: Macey #163 Pure Badger
    *Razor: Microtome project
    *Post shave: Alum/rinse and Thayer’s lavender witch-hazel
    *A/S: Givenchy Pi

I bought some fairly spendy cream while on vacation at Disney. I got it home and eventually learned that it was a non-lathering shave cream. I passed it on to another member as a gift.

Apparently the stuff works well for DE shaves, but I did NOT like the lack of cushion for my straight (I'm not a DE user).

I hope that info helps in some way.
