Brilliant shave today because we had a new combination (condensing) boiler fitted yesterday. Instant hot water and very efficient compared to the old "back boiler" system that was replaced.
So, a steaming hot bathroom, lots and LOTS of hot water
Hot shower and rinse in basin
Proraso green
Dove conditioner + 5 minutes to soften hair
Trumpers limes with Edwin Jagger best badger, then a couple of minutes stropping my new favourite razor, a Krusius 5/8 spike yellowheart from Toxic.
The blade shaved so close it was atomising hairs. It is a funny thing, but you know when a blade is cutting just right, it makes the right sound when cutting through the hair and feels just right in the hand. It is a beautiful thing.
The sound reminds me of a dying fires embers cracking on a cold night.
Anyhoo, I finished off (some hour or so later, ahem), with a few cold rinses, some witch hazel and lemongrass splash, and then a nice rub of proraso a/s balm.
I wouldn't normally type up this much for a shave, but hey, a new boiler, fine razors and a/s ... what can you do eh!?

Thanked: 97? days w/o shave
Musgo Real ASB as pre-shave prep
hot towels
Plisson HMW 12 horn
Tony Miller 3" strop
S&H 7/8 wedge w/ ivory handle (early - mid 1800s)
L'Occitane CADE soap
GFT alum block
Coral Skin Food
Razor not as sharp as I want (or sub-par prep) but still no irritation and a good shave (except a spot where the CADE irritated by itself ) Will do some Belgian laps + CrO2 before next shave. I love the curves of the blade and scales.
Musgo Real - not as good as I hoped, in my opinion so I use it for pre-shave prep. Coral Skin Food is much better for me.
I like the brush
This photo is nothing much really but I like how the soap fades into the shade
Cheers
Ivo
