Okay guys, as promised, my first impressions of the OneBlade:
First, I showered this morning, washed my hair in the shower, and shampooed/conditioned my 2 day growth beard while in the shower. After showering, I proceeded to do my first shave with my brand new OneBlade. Products that I used during this process:
Castle Forbes Pre Shave lotion
Thater 2 band silver tip brush
Tabac Shaving Soap
Osma Bloc d'Alum
Thayer Medicated Superhazel with Aloe Vera
Antica Barbieria Colla Red Sandalwood Aftershave Milk
I did my first pass all WTG and received a "reasonable" smooth shave, no nicks, weepers or irritation. The shave was relatively a "piece of cake"! Second pass was XTG and ATG. Again, no nicks, weepers or irritation. Results after second pass; BBS except for the area under my jawbone where I could still feel some hair growth. I decided that I would do an "aggressive" third pass on my neck under my jawbone (this is the most difficult area for me to get a BBS). I am happy to say that with the aggressive third pass, I was able to accomplish a BBS in that area! However, because of my aggressive strokes during the third pass, I did manage to get some small, minor nicks/weeps. These were not serious enough to have to use a septic pencil/nick relief. After rinsing off with hot water, I applied a cold, wet shaving towel to my entire shaved area. Then I applied my Alum Bloc over the entire shaved area. Waiting a couple of minutes for my face to absorb the Alum Bloc and dry, I then rinsed off the Alum Bloc with my cold, wet towel. Patted my face with another clean dry towel and applied the Thayer Medicated Superhazel. After that dried I applied my favorite aftershave milk, Antica Barbieria Colla Red Sandalwood Aftershave Milk. BBS all over!!
Okay, now my opinion of the OneBlade: It is a quality razor, over-priced, but good quality. I would guess that their direct cost of the razor (it is manufactured in China), is under $100. So at $300 a pop, they have an approx. 300% mark-up. It shaves well but IMO, the shaves that I get from my ATTs, Mongoose, Mergress & Futur are just as good! I particularly like my ATT S1 slant and my Mongoose! Will I keep the OneBlade? Definitely! It is a great razor and will be a collector item someday (besides I have a year supply of Feather blades for the razor)! Also, if I may add, wearing my CPA hat, IMO, unless OneBlade changes it's marketing strategies, they will not be in business for too long. After they have saturated their market with their razor, their revenue stream will dry up and evaporate, because not too many people will be willing to pay $.95 a blade when they can get it for $.60-.65 elsewhere (I bought mine from Bullgoose). Nor, will they be willing to pay $400 for a Thater brush when you can get the same brush at SRD for $214. And regarding their so called "collector razors" for $1000/$2500 . . . . . .come on now, we aren't all that gullible!
For those of you that get their OneBlade in the future, I look forward to reading your "First Impressions with the OneBlade"!! Good luck!

Good morning! Second shave with my OneBlade. Same set up as first shave except I used my scuttle and GFT Spanish Leather Shaving Cream as my lather. Did two passes, using a mixture of WTG/XTG/ATG strokes on each pass. Results= BBS, no weepers/nicks/irritation! Only complaint is that I found removing the blade from my OB after shaving, somewhat difficult. Have to work on that! Next shave with OB is Sunday morning using same blade as other two shaves. Stay Tuned!

Well after several more shaves with the OneBlade, all BBS, I have to say that it is a really great razor and probably my all-time favorite! BTW, I received an email yesterday from OneBlade announcing that they just sold their 4,000th OneBlade razor this week! So "go figure"!

Thanked: 96Just picked up a one blade for $50 less then buying direct. I am going to give this a real good test when it arrives. Take my trusty Mongoose, Merkur Futur and the One Blade using the same pre-shave, creme and 2 passes to see if I got screwed or did the screwing. I love new technology, thats why I can't afford to retire.

Thanked: 0Relatively new here but wanted to say, i got on the bandwagon of the One Blade. Arrived Friday and couldn't wait to use it today. Standard routine, took a hot shower, and after that, decided I will try whatever came with the package (I bought the Alpha M Package deal so got the Pre Shave, Shaving Cream, Post Shave and Brush along with the razor).
Impressions about the razor, its freaking well built, but just as nice as my Muhle.
First Pass along the growth, Almost there, second pass against the growth, BBS except my neck and the area below Jawbone. So decided for a third pass XTG and viola, one freaking nice shave. I am pleased. I will not be hanging up my straight razor but for traveling or those days where you want to head out of home quickly for an early meeting, this will not let you down.
PS: I do believe it is a bit expensive but hey if you can afford it, why not, treat yourself!! Have a good one!!
