Thanked: 10I am still working on technique and its taking a bit what feels smooth dose not remove all of the hair what removes all of the hair is rough. A sampler pack is on my list along with a DE but one day I want to go to a full on straight razor. I just have to get my skin ready for it because for the last 9 years I have been using an electric razor for most of my shaving.

I think that you will see an improvement
with your DE. If I remember correctly the
shavette used to get a lot of bad press on
the forums. It was labeled aggressive and
users cut themselves frequently.
In no time at all you will be starting a thread
" My First Straight Shave ".

Thanked: 10I hope it is far better than my experience with the shavette because I see a lot of blood with it.

The shavette seems more of a
shaving contraption than a shaving
instrument.
As far as the DE and straight goes if
the rest of us can do it so can you.

Thanked: 275I have to ask:
. . . Why does a Dreadnaught Spartan cost twice as much as a EJ DE89 ?
If I were going to spend that much on a DE razor, I'd want either an adjustable, or one in stainless steel. But I'm cheap.
. Charles. . . . . Mindful shaving, for a better world.

Thanked: 10I really don't know why it is $70 maybe they marked it up as a "premium product" to target people that like to say this bad boy cost me $$$.

Thanked: 10That is where the extra 30 bucks is justified.

Thanked: 7Hi there, I would recommend the Ikon OSS. It has an open and closed rake, is heavy, amazingly comfortable, and just fits the hand nicely.

Thanked: 10I really considered the Ikon because of that but I don't need an open comb just yet.
