I currently use actual straight razors at this point. But before I did I used a shavette razor for almost a year before I upgraded. Its a very inexpensive way of shaving and I enjoyed it very much. A great intro to wet shaving for me.
I didnt use the popular dovo or feather shavette. I used some shavettes from a company called MD Barber Supply. They have a nice assortment of shavettes with different metal finishes, scales materials, and lengths for your comfort.
The also have their own disposable blades branded Royal Red Razors. Great price and they delivered a very clean shave for me.
If you do decide to use a shavette from time to time just remember to keep the pressure light. They are noticeably lighter than a SR so its very easy to apply too much pressure trying to compensate for the lack of weight and irritate your skin. Aside from that its generally enjoyable and you blade angles or a bit more forgiving.
Check out the link. They have about 10 different models to choose from

I have a Magic which I detest and a Haryali which I enjoy as much as my actual straight razors. Here is the Haryali and it was only seven bucks shipped off ebay.

Thanked: 0I currently use the Bluebeards revenge shavette, with either Sharks super chromes, or derby blades. I like the lightness of the razor and the derby make light work of my stubble every time. It's a great little razor for little money.

Currently using a Parker SR1 and either Shark or Personna blades. If wielded correctly, this shavette will give a very good shave. It can be an aggressive shaver, depending on the angle. I believe it is just a matter of practice and learning to use the "tool" correctly. I personally enjoy DE and shavette shaves equally...
