Yup, for sure. It is the ritual of shaving with a SR that draws me more too.

I will agree with you guys. I enjoy the ritual too. But I find I enjoy the feathers almost as much. I'm not completely quitting straights By no means. I just think I am going to keep my traditional straights as my weekend shavers as I normally do one bbs shave on the weekends. I am keeping my favs. Just don't think I need the full collection sitting around.

I am a DE user that is new to this site and popped in to get a feel for how to start with a SR. I have been thinking of starting with a Feather AC and after reading this thread, I think I will. Thanks guys.

The feathers are great. They take a very light touch!!! Just know they are not true straights. But they also don't have the maintenance involved either. So you can concentrate on technique and find what works for you. The part I like is I don't have to worry about dinging the edge or folding it with stropping etc. a sharp edge is a quick blade change away. Note the first couple shaves on a new blade is definitely more harsh than a traditional straight. Go slow. Go easy. An the reward is amazing!

I just received my Feather AC DX in white pearl in the mail yesterday! I will be using it this morning to compare to my Feather AC SS. I have straights such as Hart Steel, Dylan Farnham and Dovo. I will never give those up. They are a blast when I have time. But my SS was more for the quick and excellent shave. Despite the fact that the DX I just got is beautiful looking, I'm curious of the difference will be between that and my SS. Will I need to be more careful? The SS seemed too easy and never nicked. Hmmm.....

One thing I might add is the I have very coarse whiskers. Like lead. I tried the Pro and the currently the Pro Super. The Super is so damn sharp and I think it cuts too fast and doing one too many scrapes to the face can cause some irritation. The pro does me just perfect.

I found the dx to be more like atraditional straight. But I didn't seem to get as good of shaves as I do with the SS. An the SS IS easier to use IMO.
