Shaved in front of the mirror today - got cocky forgoing all the advise to be careful. I mean seriously - how can this thing be any more dangerous than a straight? It took a good five minutes to stop the bleeding lol.

Still like the thing though .

My pick overall surprised to say is the cheaper versions. I really like the SS in both fixed an folding versions. Blade pick for me is the pro an proguard. Todays shave was a 3 pass BBS with the SS fixed an proguard blade. Been rubbing my face all day an 12hrs later still super smooth. Highly recommend this system for anyone that travels or doesn't want the constant maintenance of real straights. Although I wont be stopping my usage of straights an DE's I will have a feather in rotation for sure. Big thanks to MJC for all his help an suggestions through this experiment.
I picked up the SS and some Pro blades just for when I am on the road. Its a great shave without the maintenance

Definitely took me a while to get used to just how sharp the feather blades are. And when I use my Feather after using nothing but straights for a few months, I have to SLOOOOW down. I can whip out a pretty quick straight shave, but the Feathers require caution.

I bet, if we're honest, every one of us learned it the hard way!! When I said the name Feather was a reminder......I was talking to myself!!! But, all said and tried, it's just a really quality razor.....that demands respect!

I've been using them off and on for a couple of years and they still provide me with all the Pink Lather I need...especially the second use after a break from them.

I prefer my Feather blades at around shave 5 and up because I like them a little "dull". I always dread putting that new blade in.

So after being strictly feather now for a while an really feeling like I have found the combination for me my thoughts are it doesn't get any better for a replaceable blade razor. I am very pleased with all of them but the SS is my fav. Yes they are pricey, but they are well worth it if you are serious about using a "shavette". WAY more than a shavette. That being said I am not going completely away from my true straights an DEs but I am going to thin the herd a bit as I haven't been using them much at all.

Although I have not tried this myself, I've heard that some people run their Feather blades through a cork bottle cap to make them a bit more forgiving, or for a smoother shave.

I use a Hess milk lab ez shaver with SE personna blades. It's awesome for just $30 it comes with a thingy to use injector bladed but I like the stiffness of personnas the feel like a traditional blade more than a flimsy little guy... my .02

However, I prefer a traditional steel...
