Well since a while my only tool is a feather ac dx with pro blade. Thing is as im exclusively using it and didnt make any rotation my hand get used too technique. Now 1 or 2 pass shave is enough and without irritation or cuts. Also i use a blade 2 weeks and put in trash after before it corrodes.
i also have a feather as-d2 machine eventhough its more easy to use and more hygeienic (i use a blade twice and trash it) i choose straight. As -d2 is but kept for my son. Since didnt want to harm my current technique and straight more fun.
Btw after amd before each shave i put some alcohol (%96) to the blade for disenfection.

I have to say that I hadn't used a shavette in about 2 years, while my first straight was off getting honed, but about 2 weeks ago I picked up my old dovo shavette and gave it a try almost out of curiosity... What a different experience it was compared to when I was starting out. I got such a good shave from it now that I know what I'm doing that I decided to buy a Parker and a dreadnought just for kicks. I've shaved with shavettes exclusively for a week now and it's almost bothering me that I haven't picked up one of my treasured traditional straights...

No more straights! Going all feather!
So last night in a moment of weakness I bought a Kai Captain Excelia fixed handle and a pack of Feather pro blades, I can't believe I spent 2 bills on a shavette, but I am anxious to see the difference. I know it's not the "Feather System" per se, but with the blade interchangeability and similar weight/ feel, I'm assuming it will be a similar experience...

I don't have a KAI myself but from what I heard you WON'T be disappointed...I've had the Feather SS for a few weeks and I love it, actually I got some of the Feather professional blades coming in the mail today [emoji2]
I've been using the Feather Pro Supers which have been giving great shaves but I thought maybe a little bit thinner blade might be good to try....
Let me know how the Kai works out for ya!

Thanked: 7I've been using shavettes exclusively for the last year, despite my initial intention of learning how to use a classic straight. IMHO the Feather system is absolutely the best, no question about it. The Dovo shavette is the most difficult beccause of greater blade exposure. The Parker is, again IMHO, the best of the non-feather shavettes because of modest blade exposure. And the price is right.

Quite an interesting day, a few days ago I ordered a box of Feather Professional blades online, I think it was about $16 with shipping. ..the usual price for a box of Feather blades....
Except take a look at the picture, this is what came in the mail....no packing slip or mention of the company that fulfilled the order....quite a happy accident if I do say so myself! [emoji2]
