Thanked: 3225I do use a sponge but after the last strop on the sponge the blade gets rinsed under running cold tap water and then wiped dry with toilet paper.

Thanked: 0I like the idea of using a towel not just because of a potential accident, but I do not want to get water on the blade or in the scales. The only time water and my blades meet is when they are being honed.

Thanked: 3225Well, if you are using lather your blade has water on it as it is part of the lather. Nothing wrong with rinsing your blade under running water. If done right the water gets no farther than the shoulder of the blade and not on the tang or in the scales. Wiping the blade, in between the scales and laying it out open for a few hours should normally take care of any moisture.

I haven't tried using a towel or sponge to wipe the razor on yet but after seeing a few folks say it helps keeping water out of the pin area, it occurred to me this morning that I tend to get lather in the hing area while I'm shaving and have to rinse it out with water any way. Still trying to learn how to use a straight.
