I double- or triple pass five days a week, no drama, with a straight. I like using a DE sometimes but it tends to irritate my neck a bit. I usually skip Saturday morning and take a shave in the afternoon or evening. Sundays are optional.

If I get all kind of focused on a three-pass straight shave and toss in a little neck touch up I can skip a day for appearance sake at work; it'll hold 36-hours with some extra effort. I like shaving every other day cause it feels a little better knocking back two days growth but daily works out OK.

I shave with a SR every day and make at least 4 passes. If the blade is not stropped correctly or needs a refresh on the hone, my face will end up raw and sore but if the blade is sharp and stropped correctly, I have no after effects. One secret I learned from a very well known shaver is to strop 30 times on linen and 30 on leather. If I do that I get a perfect shave every time

I learned early on that I got a better and easier shave if i had longer stubble. But then two or three days ago I decided to try every day shaving. Just doesn't work for me. I'm nearly 2 years SR only.

Skin doesn't like it, stubble seems more resistant, have to work harder to get smoother. I'm nearly satisfied that if i -had- to shave daily, that i might be forced to use DE much of the time. Oh and that's a scary thought.

Returning to my 2-3 day routine. I'll go longer, but not without trimming my upper lip and neckline.

anybody else? or issit just me?

Im new to straight razor but I will say this I can't shave everday with any kind of razor. My skin is to sensitive. Every other day at best.

I will shave when I rub my hand in all three directions (WTG, XTG and ATG) and I feel a constant stubble. which usually is ever 2-3 days. By that point the stubble will be easier to cut and I can get a pretty decently smooth face with a 2 pass or even a 1 pass if I'm in a semi hurry that day. I only have one razor at the moment but when I get another one I would like to see how my skin fares with daily shaving.

    OP:
Exact same with me, I have a hard time getting rid of 1 day's growth, it's almost like my razor's dull. The second day is a much smoother, easier shave. Every other day for me.

Unfortunately I only have to shave every 3 to 4 days. It just doesn't grow fast enough.

You don't need multiple razors to shave every day, I use one razor every day for two week stretches. If you are thinking about resting your razor for the fins to realign there is little consensus on whether it is valid or whether it is just dovo trying to sell you 2 razors

I was worried exactly about the resting period haha. I've done some research here and across the web on the subject and like you said found mixed answers. Doing daily shaves for a week or so might not be a bad experiment to see if a daily shave too much for my skin.

My beard can be used to strengthen steel cable, so if I go two or more days without a shave, I have to do lots of pre-shave prep. 2 passes everyday during the week, one with and one against the grain leaves me with a CCS. Three or more almost always leaves me red and irritated. I always try to let my face 'rest' at least one day a week.

I am still a noob, but for me this works for me too.
Stropping the hell out of a razor has never seemed to make a big difference for me.
