Not this black duck
But my nephew has been using a 5/8 Union Cutlery 4 point from Strazor.com (Manah)
I got for him to transition from his shavetete in December 2013 and he's been using it exclusively since July 14
It had an amazing edge on it when received from Manah and has been maintained with diligent stropping only (big daddy when home then my home made roo strop I made him for travelling) the entire time with not even a touch up on the Crown barbers hone I gave him also
So it is possible
i know it is the only razor he uses as I offered him any str8 from my collection as a going away gift as he has gone to Scotland for 2 years
but he refused and said, I kid you not "one razor will be plenty"
And he left his Shavette behind
Note he is a twice a week shaver max so say about 70 to 100 max shaves and going strongLast edited by Substance; 02-06-2015 at 07:22 AM.

I started with just 1... hahaha! That lasted for about 3 days. Now I have about a dozen and I'm always on the look out for more. Oh, did I mention the strops, creams and brushes?

I can STILL say that I only have ONE (1) straight razor. Of course, a few months from now I may have to delete this post but, for now . . . I'm good.

I had one razor for about a month, bought a back up which I barely used, after 3 months or so a friend sold me a frameback which I used near exclusively for 6 months.
i sold the original back up and kept my ffirst razor as a back up.
2 friends have given me razors, and i have a custom.
I swapped the frameback for a strop but it is currently in my possession still as my friend has gone overseas and doesn't seem to want me to send him the razor, i gave my original razor to another forum member.
so I am basically down to 3 and a loaner.
I also have 2 gold dollars which are elsewhere but were only purchased to muck around with.Bread and water can so easily become tea and toast

Thanked: 2My grandfather gave me a straight in early 1960's, a kindly barber honed it and gave me a couple tips on how to use it. Shaved with that razor for 3 or 4 years until family, jobs, time got in the way. (Barber are great guys; nowadays most hair cutters are hair dressers and don't use razors)
Recently had that old razor professionally honed and I'm using it again, although I acquired a new razor and a couple were given to me by neighbors who heard I was using a straight. I have 6 razors now... and a Swaty hone. I'm all set. Grandpop's razor is a Joseph Smith &Sons' celebrated razor 3415. It's the best shaver of the bunch.

Thanked: 580With what I have learned here I could happily shave for the rest of my days with just one razor, but it has taken some time to get to that stage, and I would have trouble picking just one.
