Thanked: 12I shaved with one straight razor for over 25 years before I discovered E-bay. I have too many straight razors now, only because it's fun to restore them, not out of necessity. If you are not into collecting or restoring, you only need one. I know this is anathema to many straight razor aficionados out there, but the truth. My grandfather shaved his entire life with one straight, and that was before all the fancy honing stones and pastes.

Have to say I am all in. Wet shaving for a year and have 22 razors + I have given away 8 I've restored to friends who show an interest in wet shaving.
I have never been a collector of any thing. I really enjoy this hobby.

Wow, I feel like I shouldn't post now with so many people saying they have 20+ razors. I can honestly say that I love straight razor shaving, and I've only used one razor for almost two years now - my Black Star Dovo purchased on the classifieds at SRP.
I check in with SRP at least every week for forums and the classifieds. I did, however, purchase two sheffield steel 1890 > blades (W&B and J. Barlow) at an antique store that I'm currently restoring all with hand tools. I'm also going to attempt making scales. Then I'll have three Restoring has been awesome. One day I'll learn how to hone. The journey is slow, but I like it that way.

Just been back to Straight Razor shaving for three weeks and I've accumulated 13 SR's and more are coming in the mail . 8 of the 13 are shave ready . Most of them are vintage. At first I bought 2 Gold Dollars, didn't like them much so I started buying vintage and I'm very pleased...

Thanked: 17Picked up straight razor shaving just over 4 years ago after successfully transition from cartridges to a DE and wetshaving. Love it. Started out with the 1 which quickly grew to 9 now. Of those one is currently shave ready and I'm hoping to touch up my other 2 main razors. Still playing around with the rest.

Thanked: 23I've been at this for 1.5 years. I have 5 or 6 razors but I only use one 99% of the time. It's the Dovo from SRD. One other was a gifted Boker with no handle and a few others dirt cheap from ebay. I restored all except the Dovo. They all shave well but I like the Dovo best so that's all I really use. Once in a blue moon I use a 2.5" blade razor I restored from ebay but mostly it's the Dovo. I can easily see how someone could only have one. The only issue would be if you don't hone your own razor you would need something else when you send it for honing. Maybe a bag of Bic disposables? Sorry, I didn't mean to mention disposable razors.

I only have two razors and have been at it for 1yr and 9mos. In the past several months I have been using only one that I have developed a preference for, a Dovo 6/8 Flowing. I pretty much use only one soap too, Cella. I've also just been maintaining it with just a barber's hone and CrOx on the inside of the linen of my strop for a while now whenever I feel it need's a refresh. I plan on buying a Custom straight someday though.
