I am a daily DE shaver (still waiting for my SR to arrive)...I usually do a 1 or 2 pass WTG for a nice clean, irritation free shave. And I usually trim my mustache on Sunday morning.

I shave every evening, I do a 2 pass WTG and XTG but lately the edge I honed is just suiting my skin and I've been doing the whole she-bang.

ATG only most of the face, only upper lip and chin get WTG and ATG.
What does OCD mean (obsessive compulsory disorder or of Caucasion descent or...)?Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose. Jean-Baptiste Alphonse Karr.

Thanked: 0hey, I have quite a coarse thick beard and whenever I shave I will have to do 3 passes if not 4 with some touch ups. this has been my experience with 3 razors but I cannot shave before my 3 or 4day beard growth. I would like to shave more often but tend to have a sore beard with redness. What do you suggest. I do all the preparation without a hot towel; I have a dry skin

Thanked: 1Here's what I did at first; now i do 2, sometimes 3 passes. Set your alarm a little bit early, get up and spend a little more time on becoming exceptional with a single pass. Once you feel like your proficeny and efficancy is maximized, try to squeeze in anothe pass, if not, roll that alarm back. Do two pasess. Do these steps until your able to accomplish as many passes as your comfortable with. Remember, its about the journey as much as it is the destination. Brilliance in the basics means become exceptional WTG. Then move on to more complex grips, angles, and direction of pass. Good luck fellow shaver!

If you have been straight shaving since April, but only about every four days, that really would not equate to a great deal of experience or practice. Perhaps all you need is more time refining your technique and getting your face used to the straight.
It easily took me three full months of everyday shaving before I thought I knew what I was doing and a couple more months before I really did.
Had a red neck for a long time after starting, until my technique was good. Also had three ingrown hairs in a small area of my neck that have been there for years and took about four months with the straight to disappear and not return.
I'd be willing to bet that with more shaving, more practice, everything will come together.

I usually just do one careful pass, it is time effective and still gives me a good shave. If I have a meeting or something then I might throw in a second pass for that extra close shave

Thanked: 22For me the key is to use light pressure and good skin stretching on the second pass. Am now doing first pass WTG and second pass Diagonally on cheeks and jaw line with a good stretch of the Jowls before making a light pass down the neck. This produces DFS every time with a SR, and if I want BBS I follow this with a third pass using DE.
