Glasses, mine are on & off, on & off. They just seem to get in my way with lathering, skin stretch and or block my view. Off they come, get that area and then back on. My beard lays so flat that glasses is only way to see that missed patch cause I can't feel it with lather.

I'm getting where I just shave with out glasses. Then after first rinse take good look with glasses on and re-lather spots and them clean up.

I have a very weathered face with deep crevasses and hollows with 'cow lick' in face & neck that defy clean straight shaving. A wet shaver all my life but still seeking and finding my center with straight razors.

Sometimes I leave those patches and I come back with a dulled razor and lather and try to find that magic stroke/direction/position/pull/lift/stretch/grip in those problem areas then put to test with lather & SR razor. I still have a ways to go and yes I grab the cartridge razor to help finish a proper shave still.

Utopian clued me in on the method. He no longer uses it.

Richard, Thank you so much for this recipe! I like the idea of a drying solution for the straight razor which leaves just a bit of oil behind. This is one of the best aspects of this forum, which allows us to learn great tips and tricks from other wet shavers. I'm going to put your and Utopian's method to good use!

I tried taking my glasses off, but got lather on my nostrils.
    Fortunately I didn't sneeze.
Shaving without glasses is out of the question, I still wish to be presentable.

I will blame it on a lack of experience.

If you have a bifocal correction get a pair of reading glasses with that correction. Works for shaving and works for working at the computer.

Or I could see getting a pair of shaving glasses at the dollar store. Depending on how deep your counter top is. I many times at work end up at a distance that is in between my bifocals.

I was changing a ballast hot in a florescent light on a ladder at work today and if I stepped up a step I was to close. I could step down a step and focus but then my arms were to short.

I would say I am a pretty neat and tidy shaver. I try and only use what I need and when I am done I put things up, and I don't leave lather dripping off of myself or gear. I know the first time I straight shaved was hilarious, lather got slung on the mirror and was in my ears somehow. I have come a long way : )
