I wouldn't say it's mundane, but I am used to it. I will tell you this though:
Coming back from the get together in Asheville NC these last two years I was totally renewed by new tips and tricks on all the aspects of this hobby.
Straight shaving to me is a life style. The lifestyle of a gentleman. And that never gets old!

Thanked: 363I never get tired of straight razor shaving, if your tired or bored, do one of two things, buy a new straight hone it, and try to get it to the point of giving you smooth bbs shaves everytime, if that doesn't work go a shave with a mach 3 or a DE for a month and come back and tell us how much fun that **** is lol. Sorry Im crass!
I love the new scents, the new blades, the challenges and most of all that sticky smooth shave you can only achieve with a good straight razor.
I'm in love..
cheers

Thanked: 234I haven't been doing this for very long, but it hasn't got mundane.
I think, with not working or anything at the moment, my motivation to do anything is slowly slipping a way - I need to change that.

I anticipated that I'd get responses along these lines, and I too suspect that I will continue to hold SR shaving as something special. Never bored, but I do have moments of frustration....when I fail on the hones or get a mediocre or worse shave. Then I want the day to pass quickly so I can do better and restore my faith in myself.

Does it get mundane?
Gentlemen,
Wet shaving, whether you use a straight edge or double, will get mundane only when it loses its romance.
Because of an injury to my left hand, I am forced to shave with a straight edge only on weekends. The rest of the week I use a double edge safety razor, using my right hand.
No matter, because I still use the best soaps and creams I can afford, the best brushes, aftershaves and razors. The best for me, I should say. The romance continues.
Oh, one more thing: I received my straight razor training from the great master himself: Lynn. We had many phone conversations. I am not about to disappoint my teacher and give up on the straight razor even with a banged up left hand.
Yes, gentlemen, keep the romance alive.

Obie

Every shave is different in feel, closeness, and
overall end result for me. This keeps it interesting,
and I can still see my technique getting better and
better.
Once I put the blade to my face, it is everything
but mundane!

Thanked: 0I have more of a time issue and have to reach for the disposable. I hate to say it, but I've been reaching for the disposable more frequently and even been shaving with just hot water and no lather. My face has been taking a beating from it with white heads too. I've given thought to buying a double edge in hopes of speeding up the shaving process. I've been away from the forum for a bit too. Hopefully I can slow down and get back to getting some me time again.
