I found SRP via mslovacek, member here, who referred me to learn to use the straight he had given me. So much info here free of charge astounded me, and the helpfulness and willingness to share of its members
Like Robin, I realized that finding and sorting static information was very difficult, especially concerning specific and consensus information. So when the wiki came along, I was very happy. SRP needed a repository for some of the most-requested answers and some of the often-searched for information as well as an organized structure for browsing everything straight razor related in an efficient way.
Contributing to the wiki hasn't seemed to hamper my discussion presence in the forum, however (judging by my post count and daily online activity.) In fact, I think it has enhanced it.
SRP has been a significant factor in continuing to use the straight razor. I found all the resources I needed to help me stick with learning the shaving skill through the ups and downs, and into keeping my razors up to speed. I encourage those who have gained from SRP to continue giving back and keep advancing this great resource of SRP for future usersFind me on SRP's official chat in ##srp on Freenode. Link is at top of SRP's homepage

Thanked: 16Absolutely. I started wet shaving with a DE when I found Badger and Blade as I was tired of spending so much on disposables. Bader and Blade identified SRP in one of their threads and the rest is history.

Yes and no.
I first started about 20 years ago. Shaved with a straight for two years, then let it go. I primarily quit because I couldn't get comfortable shaves, not knowing what I was doing.
The second time around I found SRP and obtained some education. Now my shaves are much more comfortable.

I have to say that with out the SRP I probably would of not given this a try.
The resources are the best, the support and Wiki are worth their weight in gold..

Unfortunately no. I had decided to try a straight when my grandmother gave me my great grandfathers razor. I fumbled around for a month or so, bought a couple of Paki razors, and was basically lost until I stumbled apon the SRP on yahoo. Once I started getting help from the guys here it really came together. I haven't used anything but a straight in going on 5 years.
On a personal note, for the last 30 years I've sported a mustache. Last week I shaved it, and had to learn a new technique. But I didn't draw any blood.

Thanked: 20Oh my! Definitely. So much information here! I wouldn't have known where to start... Thanks to Lynn for the creation of this site and his contribution to the SR community... There is a lot of great people here and SRP is one of the mediums through which they can shine and share their knowledge.

I had the idea in the back of my mind after finding a nice straight in a collection of military stuff I bought. I found SRP Googling for info and here I am.
There's no way in heaven or hell I'd have the results I have without SRP.I strop my razor with my eyes closed.

Thanked: 235SRP didn't convince me to start straight razor shaving. But it did teach me how to do it properly and so SRP has kept me straight razor shaving.
