About a year or two ago I bought an electric Norelco with the 3 circular foil things. OUCH! That thing yanked my whiskers and I quickly junked it (and maybe I cursed it too).

My worst shave was also with an electric. It was an old hand-me-down from my Dad. I was all of 15 years old and it was the most painful experience of my life up to then.

My second worst shave was about three weeks after the bad electric shave. It was my first DE shave. I used an old can of Colgate shave cream. Did I say old? It was so old that it was mostly liquid. And I even managed to take a few chunks out of my face too.

It has been great since then.

    Default Bick

A single blade Bick disposable. It was so uncomfortable and nicked me terribly, very sore afterward. Wished I had some aftershave that day. I realised not only that the razor was useless, but that other nine left in the package were garbage too.

    See my barber thread.

Second place goes to those blue disposable single blade bic's that my father used to use. Those things were midevil!! And that was like late grade school, early high school. My beard was no where near as thick as it is today. Dad, how did you ever manage with those!

Oh, and my dad things I'm nuts for changing to a DE (some nonsense about progress and technology...psshaww!). He has no idea that my str8 is on the way. He's going to think I'm plain crazy!

    Angry Two Worst Shaves

The first worst shave was with a Panasonic Wet/Dry electric razor. I lathered up in the shower and took that p.o.s. to my face and neck. I had such razor burn that I couldn't wear a shirt! The burn lasted for about 3 to 4 days. I threw the thing out.

The second worst shave was with one of those disposable bic razors. You know, the white handled single blade razors with the cheese yellow protector. Not only did I get a serious burn, but I cut the $hit out of my face. It came in a package of ten, but I only used one. The rest are probably in the same land-fill as the Panasonic.

Since that day, I swore I would never use disposable again. I the became a Gillette sucker and fell into the never ending process of buying more blades at an ever increasing price.

Now, if I choose not to, I won't ever have to purchase another blade in my lifetime.

Filarmonica 7/8 -- I could shave as well with one of my pocket knives as the shave it initially gave! I am very disappointed with the results. I only have 2 razors right now, and the other one -- Timor Blue Steel 5/8 -- kicks the snot out of that Filarmonica.

I've honed it myself, and it has improved from the initial shaves, but it appears that it has got to go to a honemeister. It better have some serious improvement after that, or it will be put up for sale.

    Thumbs down Boot camp

Boot camp 1960. Navy issue razor and Barbasol shaving cream in a tube. No instructions and to top it off they had the audacity to tell you you had an improper shave.

Let me know if you want to get rid of it.
