You know that you are blood brothers now, don't you?
I did the same thing a few days ago but the blood flowed all the way down my neck.
Twice in two consecutive shaves with two different razors - both spikes and only one cut.
The second razor was too lazy to make it's own cut!!

I had been liking the spike for cleaning up around my beard. Still kind of do. Right now I'm kind of scared to see what lies beneath the bandaid I wore to bed...

Got my first decent cut the other day from a little Shumate spike point I had cleaned up and honed. Went back to my good ol' round point Reppenhagen to finish with.

Looks like a nasty cut.

It's round. Another pass would have left a hole like one would put a ball into on the 9th green... which I would have done and packed it with neosporin.

A spike wound would have been longish with a flap cleaved free on one side.

Looks like you half sythed off a mole, blackhead, or zitski, like the other one that's developing just east of the erupted one.

It's your pic... I'm just sayin'.... might want to take another look.

IMO the spike had nothing to do with that wound, but it is epic!

Break out the catgut!

Do I see a vertical line cut surrounded by a globule of blood or is that whole red part chunked off?
If it's the first, then it ain't so bad. If it's the second then you might need to rehone that razor for good measure because you may have nicked the edge on your mandible bone.

It's definitely a line with a small flap. And there's no mole, zit, or blackhead on my face. I've got a few hairs that grow in 2-3 thicker and darker than anything else. And a few old freckles.
The nastiness you see is things starting to scab up/Styptic that came off/cotton from the Styptic swab.

It's well packed with neosporin today. I got some in last night, taped some gauze on and went to bed. Still a wee bit tender but I washed it out with soap and water this a.m. and filled it back up with neosporin.

As long as it doesn't get infected, I'm good to go. It's what I get for being distracted.

now this is a cut!!! now a scar! SWMBO walked in and startled me when I was shaving 5 months ago. Lynn commented on it at the meet up!! lol

Well square points do make ya pay more attention and remind you when they done. I get reminded from time to time when I thing of computer code while I'm shaving. I never feel it cut and it usually takes a bit before it bleeds but once it starts it's hard to find the off switch. It reminds me to focus and I do for several months or so until the next time. It's usually when I forget to stretch the skin. Regardless of the type of point the razor has I shave with them all as if it were a square point. I've been shaving with straights for a while now and have a technique where I use certain parts of the blade on specific parts of my face. I don't really think about it but I do notice the technique if I pay attention to the blade more. By developing this technique I rarely cut myself with the toe unless I forget to stretch the skin properly. I would suggest getting back to the square point and using it for a few weeks to develop your technique. Then use it for all of your razor styles. Other than shaving through a seven day set I can't remember using the same style razor twice in a row. That really make shaving interesting as each razor has it's own personality.

As far as you uncle is concerned with your Grandfather's razor, if he is dead set on selling it offer him $5 more than the best offer he gets and let him know it is to keep it in the family. It would be money better spent than on an ebay score or an antique shop fine. Wish I had a straight razor from a relative. Good luck.
