    happy new year! I'm 36 soon to be 37. Shaved with a safety razor for 2 decades then began with a straight about 5 years ago. Makes the morning routine more interesting. Plus I enjoy developing agility with my hands.

    22 from here. Shaved 4-5 times with a straight, nicked and cut myself each time, and a shave took too long time. I have a loong way...

    Turn 44, this week. Been shaving with a EJ DE, but I have a straight on the way. Ordered it from Straight Razor Designs as a birthday present... to myself.

    Just turned 21 mid november. Been shaving since I was about 12 or 13. Just started using a straight December 25 of last year.

    Just by noting the age of a lot of the people who have responded, many are very young, wouldn't this be cool if it actually brought the straight back to the forefront of shaving? Imagine having a really nice blades going back into production once again? I guess you can dream, but it would be nice.
    If it did happen, then think of the craftsman that would have to come back, actually having blacksmiths and people who know how to sharpen once again. And maybe just maybe, we could walk into a barbershop and get a decent shave.

    Most of my razors are vintage and heritage! Many were given to me! However, I recently purchased a straight razor directly from the factory in Germany. The factory hone was actually quite good! I've purchased 'Shave Ready' razors from SRP that weren't that keen! After honing here at home it gives a wonderful shave!! (Just ask pinklather) While these links aren’t to the factory that produced my razor, they show what’s involved in making a straight razor. The first is in German, the second is in English.

    Personally I prefer the German speaking version, but both are really informative!

    Naaaa. I'm a bit of a hipster, I'd hate it if it were mainstream, well, not HATE it, but I like the added bonus of it being a little different. Also, according to my calculations (browsing) there's heaps of really nice razors out there, vintage, new, NOS, etc to keep my wantonly coveting for many a year...
