Thanked: 51The one pass shave
Recently, since I've been sporting a goatee, I've started only doing one pass when I shave. I've never been one of those guys who goes after a BBS shave, and I'm finding that a single pass is getting me as close as I care to be. It's also been great since I have extremely sensitive skin on the right side of my neck, and reducing the number of passes has virtually eliminated any discomfort I feel immediately after shaving.
Does anyone else only do one pass?

Yes, I have done a one-pass shave and been satisfied with the result. I have never been one to risk skin irritation for the baby bottom smooth shave. Of course, to each his own. If the one-pass shave is acceptable and easy on your skin, I am with you.

Thanked: 4942If you are simply going for appearance, there is nothing in the world wrong with a one pass shave in my opinion.
Have fun.

Salutations,
I also will leave it at a single pass, I only do 2 or 3 if it is a special occasion. I think it also has to do with the fact that I keep in facial hair as well. Nothing like chiseling a beard out of an untamed growth that when seen in the mirror screams, " I am all that is man!"
...
Cheers,

One pass for me most of the time. 1.5 gets me a little smoother when I'm feeling good.

I try not to...as the handful of times I've done one pass, it was with a DE and I was in a rush...but I'm curious, just the right side of your neck? Do you think it's sensitivity is different from you left or maybe just a difference of technique? Do you switch hands or just use one?

Only if time is short. I always go two or three if time allows. If I was wearing a goatee I might go one pass more often.

Thanked: 51I've tried it every which way and I've come to the conclusion that the right side is more sensitive than the left..... I've used each hand, shaved my neck before my face so that the blade was fresh off the strop instead of having mowed through the hair on my cheeks, and several other ideas that haven't worked out. The hair on the right side of my neck seems to be more coarse than the left, so I'm sure that pressure has something to do with it, as well.
