Imma morning shaver. M-W-F. I was off last week and had a shave on thurs I believe it was. Of course that evening a nice spike I got from a fellow forumite had to arrive. It was soo hard. I struggled until saturday & got my fix touching the crew up on the barbers hone (spike came with just bevel set according to ad). Sunday was even harder knowing it was going to at least shave (to me it was quite well honed when received). Finally monday came and it was quite gratifying. Just now thinking about it, I may just try a daily single pass ATG and see how that fares. I really think the bathing prep makes a difference and I refuse to bath daily unless I do something that causes excessive sweat or dirt. I work long hours in IT so that normally dont happen during the week. I also firmly believe that part of being healthy is allowing our bodies to fight some things off to stay in practice. But thats a whole 'nother topic. Probably still a good idea to try daily shaving action, at least it will help me find what works should I need a shave w/o a bathe.

My wife has never used soap on her face in all the time I've known her, citing the reasons mentioned above.

I rarely soap on my face for the same reasons since my first break out in my teens. By rarely I mean never unless I have car work grease on my face, and then I use the most diluted amount I can to break that stuff down.

And I had a most epic fail on the daily shave attempt. 1 time, and it wasnt that great then life got in the way for the whole week. Shave on tues AM next shave was monday AM. niiiice

Found this thread after a week of only shaving every other day due to time constraints (it's summer and I'm working over time - as much as I like shaving I'm not cooking dinner, spending a half hour in the bathroom every day and squeezing in a social life), and have found that my razor grabs at 48 hours worth of stubble much better than it does 24. Thinking about trying to alternate DE/Straight/DE/Straight and seeing how that goes, as I do like being well groomed and I can get a decent DE shave in the blink of an eye, where as I'm still new enough to straights that it takes me awhile to do both passes.

Just caught this one. I agree.....I like the feeling of clean after a couple of days of growth. My skin just gets that fresh outta the shower kind of feel. I'm sure that's how cowboys must've felt comin back from the dusty trails and getting that nice barber treatment. And of course the final splash of Aftershave of choice tops it all off like the proverbial cherry on the ice cream Sunday. Like the whole Rebs charge plug by the way heh .
