You're off to Mens Essentials...hard shop to come out of with any cash left...LOL...Valery does all their honing there. Think I've seen the Bison Horse Hide strop there, it really is a stunning strop, let me know what you bring back...if you can, try some T&H Trafalgar or the 1805, amazing shaving soap IMO.

    Hi guys,

My first post and I'm excited to be part of this forum. I've got my first real straight on the way - it's a Ralf Aust with the Premium II strop from SRD and I can't wait! I've got a bit of a blade obsession and decided straight razors were clearly the next step for me.

I've been using a Dovo shavette since December to see if it was for me and if I would stick with it. I'm loving the process and will plan to keep my shavette for travel and switch to the Aust when at home.

Thanks and I can't wait to join the club!

    Welcome

    And........No you won't!
You'll start taking your Aust with you when you travel!
I said the same thing, but my travel was going to be a cartridge.

Ha! You're probably right. I've never even held a real straight so I just assumed they would be fragile and difficult to travel with. I should know better considering how long they last.

Yep, people today shaving with razors made hundred years ago.

I take a Hart Steel razor when I travel. Dang good shavers and sturdy.
