Thanked: 4206This is one of the others I'm looking forward to coming north.
Broken scale tip so new skins will be in order, but I am hopeful I can reset the inlay from the Bakelite? I presume original. My laser will work for the new recess, but removing the inlay from the Bakelite may be a concern. Not sure acetone will dissolve it..
Will add it to the butchered blade thread when it arrives for help from da gang..

"Bakelite has a number of important properties. It can be molded very quickly, allowing identical units to be mass-produced. Moldings are smooth, retain their shape and are resistant to heat, scratches, and destructive solvents. It is also resistant to electricity, and prized for its low conductivity. It is not flexible.[8]:44–45[23][26]
Phenolic resin products may swell slightly under conditions of extreme humidity or perpetual dampness.[27] When rubbed or burnt, Bakelite has a distinctive, acrid, sickly-sweet or fishy odor."
This, however, gives credence to the possibility of dissolving it into a varnish...

I just stated that because I have not ever seen a Bakelite scale with an inlay.....
NOR a Puma with factory Bakelite scales! ever..."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 4206Probably right. The two processes may have been from different times.
Hope it's just good ole plastic. Never held a puma to know. There's enough original scale left I'm going for an exact copy, no scale shape freestylin on this one..
As always, appreciate the input from guys that have held a few.."Depression is just anger,, without the enthusiasm."
