Thanked: 481Hehehe, agreed - fast stone. I think I only did 10 laps, no pressure, and saw a significant difference over the 8k.
If your Norton 8k is gritty then I might suggest lapping it. I meant that the Shapton is grittier then the 8k. And by that I simply mean that you can feel a hint of the abrasiveness of the stone. Not quite like my coticule, but not a glassy stone either.

only had it happen once that i can recall but it was a bad one! years ago when Gold was somewhere around $330 an ounce I bought a Gold Coin, supposedly from an old shipwreck off California, the seller had many and they all sold in the $360-370 range, I won one for $354 woohoo! It went missing and I couldn't get any resolution or refund from seller or ebay, It ended up not showing up......... til over a year later! Post office claimed it fell behind a sorting machine up in Maine and was discovered when they were moving machines around! So fas forward a few more years, Gold skyrocketed and I had lost my job, was selling off all my Gold and Silver, this was one of the last pieces. I took it to a jeweler to test it and turns out its a fake!
Now I keep it as a reminder to ask questions and educate myself before I buy anything on Ebay, including straight razors of course

you might think so but there are sellers who get ahold of reproduction razors that are simply Razor shaped objects, think they have a legitimate vintage razor and try selling it as such. I've caught examples here and there and if it looks like a seller is just unaware I send them a friendly message to let them know they are not selling a vintage blade, but a reproduction that won't shave.
