Or maybe they were inspired by the Creswicks! according to "Mesters to Masters: A History of the Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire"
The CReswicks go back a long ways with 12 Creswicks being listed amoung the cutlers in 1614. Between 1630 and 1667 there were 6 individuals with the surname "Creswick" that served as "Master Cutler." Long Line of Creswicks in the cutlery trades, but no idea who John descended from and when he set up shop. Sweet Razors for sureSilverloaf
