So I asked an old friend for help with making scales said I needed a drill press.

I have a similar small drill press but of a cheaper make. On mine the mount for the motor is adjustable to allow slackening of the belts so you can move them on the spindles.

It's probably the small lever on the side in the second picture that releases the motor.
My release looks like this:

Ok do you need to adjust the knob on the side only?
I have those on both sides.
Do you have to adjust motor vertical adjustment as well. Or Both have to be adjusted?Your only as good as your last hone job.
