Those little stones are the same type that Samuri warriors used on their swords to ensure a clean cut at the neck.
I have the same ones from Garret and they are a game changer in skilled hands. I thought the same as you. Now I wouldnt trade mine for the world. It makes a system Naguras & Nakayama's that currently are on par with Escher. Coticule. Zulu Grey. But on steroids, and fast food quick. Rock solid repeatable results. A little stone thrown by David killed Goliath. Dont think of them as a slurry stone, they impart a grit particle that imparts its own metal removal and polish at a smaller micron that other current naturualsYour only as good as your last hone job.

Mentioned some time back that my barber had one of these as his first razor when he started out 40 years ago and it was somehow lost.
Well hopefully I can clean this up and surprise him with a shave ready piece of nostalgia.
Maybe get a free hot shave out of it.
