That varathane idea's a god one Tom, thx for the idea.,

I missed it completely. I didn't think it came with a slurry. That's a first for me for those old ones with labels but as I always say, I learn something everyday.

I've sealed all four of mine with Artists Gloss/Varnish using a very small model paintbrush. Put one coat on, let dry, and repeat for several coats. I also seal the box's and the label on the boxes. Nice looking stone, box and slurry stone - great score, doesn't get any better! Congrats!

The next question is, after a stone like that, do you use crox or something to further the edge or leave the stone as the last thing to touch the blade?

Awesome assortment of info John. Thank you..
And yes Phrank, great question about the final finish. Phil was saying last summer that a paste after nearly everything helps, but I'm not sure if anyone had an escher at the GTG.

Just finished my first shave with it. I didn't cut myself!

This was my first shave with a wedge (near wedge actually) and I am now a true believer in the smoothness of a wedge. Gotta buy more now...

Going to have to use wood. It's the only thing I have big enough to accommodate such a large knot.

I've been sitting on these for a while..... Might be a good project to use them on.

I'm going to get a huge, unabridged dictionary 'cause I'm running out of words when I see your work. That, or I'm going to hold a seance and channel Webster for words and phrases.

I'd recommend a Thesaurus over a dictionary for this purpose.
