I got A Naniwa 12k and some artisan "whipped shaving soap" (fancy name for shaving cream?) from Montreal in the mail. Really curious about the scent, I picked white birch.

Indeed it does. Great looking stabilized burl!
As promised, just finished the first shave with it - tremendously fine brush! Nice feel in the hand, good weight and size, and the stiff D01 silvertip is right to the point: very smooth and silky, but not running away and spreading in all directions as expected from regular silvertip of similar size.

This strop I got in the mail didn't turn out very well. (Post #6101) It was marked as display only. I figured I'd just clean it up and with a little oil and time be good to go. I got it last night and find it was very plyable/soft/flexable but also sticky. Took a damp cloth to it and the color was coming off and the leather was rolling off in bits. Think they soaked it in oil of some kind then after it was dried some they put shoe polish on it.
I've cleaned it the best I could and all the printing has come off. Its now drying and I hope with some time I can make it good enough to strop on. I wont be buying strops used on eBay any more. I hate buying from eBay. Its so easy to get taken. Looks like the full price at SRD is where I'll pick up a couple strops in the future.
The cloth part of this strop of still in good shape and can be used if nothing else, but it sure was a bust.

That's a shame Gasman. Sometimes you save money by paying full price.

The problem is I still can't stay off eBay.

Knowing what to look for is key, Jerry. TBH, I would not have considered that one.
I would be glad to give my opinion on an ebay strop in the future, but I must warn you, I am picky.
