There's definitely more complete contact on the hone now. Before I had to do a very pronounced rolling x and even then it was very difficult to get complete contact across the entire edge.

    Thank-you
So the Sharpie test looks like your hitting the edge pretty well.
Those honing gymnastics that 10pups was talking about start now.
At the end of the x-stroke towards the toe . Do a Nike swish move.
I have to go to work now. I will be back in a couple of hours.
Looking good. How does it feel??

It looks good, and thy edge is shaping up nicely. The feedback is definitely sounding and feeling right. Thanks a ton for the guidance Jonathan! ! I can finally start using my pipe razors. I'm totally stoked! ! You sir are THE MAN! !

    Ok I am back.
You need to replace the tape, at least the top layer.
You went with 2 layers correct?
And please refresh your hone by lapping it with your DMT.
It will get rid of the little pieces of metal (schwarf).
And you should do another 25 of those x strokes with a swish.

See I need to work on the show side at the heel.
Your bevel should look even as possible

So I will check in tomorrow. Pictures please.
I am going to want to see the bevel both sides.
I bet your going through the hones as we speak.
Lap each hone before and AFTER use. That way they are ready for the next pipe razor.
And rinse off the DMT well. If you have a wire brush use it on your DMT and you will see all the gunk come out of it.
You have great tools. Buy once and maintain them for a lifetime.
I am proud of you. You should be proud as well.
If you get crazy and start the black scaled razor. It needs 2 layers off tapes as well.
New razors only need 1. We used 2 because of the flatness of spine, and we dont want a huge bevel.
    Aesthetics count.

This turned out great ultra! The bevel isn't quite perfectly uniform, but it's very close all the way across the edge. It was thin in one spot, thick in another, then back to thin again. I'd say this was a smashing success! I can't thank you enough for all the guidance and giving of your time to help me out. You're a true gentleman sir! !
