Well, I had my first shave with the Friodur.....just wonderful. I am very pleased. Since I've been home sick I didn't shave yesterday....2 days of beard were gone just like that. I think I'm gonna like a bigger blade after all.
The square point I ordered really does a good job too, it isn't exactly a spike point, but is more square than the rounded point obviously.

Vintage Blades currently has both 7/8 and 8/8ths Friodurs with modestly worked backs and spanish points.

I saw Jim's over at Vintage Blades and immediately fell into lust!
I am not sure what the differences are between the ones Jim has and the ones offered by shavingshop.com other than the spine. It looks like the spines on Jim's seem to be a little thicker and the obvious file work but I can't really tell. Could some veteran CODT (Clan of the Dancing Twins) members give any insight?
The biggest surprise of all? SWMBO actually agreed!!
I'm waiting to get word back from Jim on a couple of small details and I will have a "new" 7/8 on the way!!!

So now that you have had some time with the new blades, what do you think? I am thinking real hard about getting two of them. I was going to polish both out and put some nice exotic scales on them, keep one and list the other in the BST to offset the price on the keeper. So, how are they treating you?

Jumping on the Friodur bandwagon, I just received my 7/8 Spanish point from John at shavingshop. I think it looks terrific. Even the black plastic scales don't seem so bad when you're actually holding it.
John was great in quickly getting it mailed out to some friends who were coming to Africa for a visit and agreed to bring the razor with (saved me over a month and half of waiting for it to arrived in the post).
Thanks John.
