It's the difference between "more is better" and "more is necessary"

Of course I like my Belgians big. My first girlfriend was a six feet tall exchange student from Antwerp.

Thanked: 84If I had to pay 'full-wack' for a Coticule, and had the funds I'd go for a 3x8 or longer Coticule/BBW combo. Or a really nice single coticule.
I think a hone that is wider than your longest blade is not needed.
I only got this monster because it was cheap.
I would LOVE to know where it came from, Rob couldn't help with that. He did say it was the 2nd biggest he's seen/ heard off.
I won't be looking for another Belgian stone, whats the point? It's BIG, fine, hard and pretty.
I only need a 1200 grit diamond hone now, just to set a bevel.
I used 600 grit wet'n'dry to do my taylors Eye Witness It worked fine!!
but, I know I could do with a nice DMT bevel setter.

Thanked: 84How much does The John Holmes Hone weigh?
Ok, I've been down the Post Office, holding a box that looks like it should house a pair of duelling pistols!
But, it doesn't, It holds John Holmes...!
I ask the lady if I can use her scales and slip my hone onto the scales.
I can now tell you the hone weighs 3.542kg or 7.8lbs for those in civilized countries.

If found in a microscope shop, it was probably a microtome hone. The large size would be perfect for the older microtome blades which are very large heavy wedges.
If it wasn't for backlog, I'd have no log at all...
