My First Wosty
I've been at it again.
I got this one with warped scales and had an interesting time getting them straightened out.
I used a variant of the jig that has been posted here except I used a metal centre plate that I heated up with a heat gun.
As you can see the pivot hole was pretty well worn, so I filled it with Devcon and a 3/32" sleeve and it is good and tight now.
I cannot believe how well this one shaves - not a sound - the whiskers seemed to fall over in front of the blade.
Going by the scales I would think that this is an early 1900's razor, however, I cannot be sure.
Any comments or info would be appreciated.Hang on and enjoy the ride...

Thanked: 993Congratulations on such as fine piece. I love my Wostie. I find it responds well to an edge from a Charnely Forest....just in case you wanted to try....

Don't have one, They've become very popular the last year or so. I'll have to look for one to see what all the fuss is. Nice blade btw.

I devoutly avoid Sheffields, having jumped through my navel to try to make peace with them. So I have no allegiance to a brand of Sheffield. I've had a few good shaves from them, and the ones I enjoyed had no tendency towards one brand or another. I've tried 4 Wosties, and they seemed as good as any Sheffield. The popularity of the W&B seems like a fad to me and some others. They're fine for a sheffield, but other sheffields are just as good. If you like the feel of the Sheffield, I doubt you'll find a brand that performs better than your Wosty.

Nice job restoring the Wosty mate
You will have to watch out for that silent assassin blade
chopping through whiskers with not a sound
Enjoy

I agree with you entirely. Wade and Butchers are nothing special and neither are the rest of the Sheffields. In fact, I feel so strongly about this issue that I've started a Sheffield Disposal business. USPS boxes will be sent to those interested in getting rid of their Sheffields, postage provided, and they can be sent to my address. I plan on building a facility to house the business, but for now my residence will have to suffice. If my residence becomes crowded with them, I will just have to knock out a wall in the shave den.
