    Well Lucky you,
I think one or two of us have

Post up some pictures and we can have a look (keep in mind we do not do valuations), a great thing to have and hold.
Many of us would love to have an heirloom to use, and a few are fortunate enough too.
Are you considering picking up the sport?

Either way welcome to the forum.

Thanks very much!! I have been using a DE razor for the past 6 months now and really enjoy it so finding this "M.F. & Co" razor will be a fun change (hopefully). It is currently getting "honed" I guess is the term I should use as I don't have the equipment to do so. I guess need to buy a strop? The store was showing me a few but they are all over 100 dollars.

Suggestions on a cheaper way to get started?

Illinois #827 still a go to strop for me. Under $50 the #127 is even less and a good strop.
What type of budget do you need to be in?

Wow I've been a member for a few hours and you are helping me out so much!! Really appreciated.

Well, the less I can spend the better - if I don't enjoy the straight razor, I don't want to be stuck with expensive gear! My hope is to become proficient and then upgrade.

I am already using a silver tip badger brush, and castle and forbes lavender cream.

Whipped dog has a poor man's a rich man's and a paddle strop. Not sure on pricing. Glen gssixgun of gemstar customs also has a paddle strop that if I recall is very affordable. The Illinois could be resold for very little loss of you don't tear it up. I still use mine that I started with, for me it was not hard to get the motion correct. Pressure and speed took a little longer.

I completely forgot about this post until now, but I completely restored this razor about 3 weeks ago all by hand. 220 grit to 3000 grit sand paper finished with a bit of polishing compound. I made the scales from padauk again by hand. Check it out Name: IMG_1445305538215.jpg
