Thanked: 131In this point I would agree with you.
When I said you required that someone elaborate on their answer I was meaning YOU Ron. I was referring to your original objection-
If everyone was agreeing with me maybe there is a reason for that. Perhaps people were agreeing because they thought it was a good idea Perhaps people liked to play comedian and +1 it because they understood the irony . Either way, the notion of disagreeing simply because you want to be awkward seems immature. I refer to you here saying 'I threw a wrench into it.... I have no objection.' So in other words Ron you were just wanted to provoke someone? Cheers for that.

Thanked: 3795Back to the primaries, I, like Hillary, mis-spoke. I don't think the +1 would be very helpful, I do think there is some possibility that it might mislead, but I don't have a strong objection to it. "Threw a wrench into it" was a poor choice of words. I am fully capable of immaturity but I brought up my disagreement only because I thought it was a valid opinion that added to the discussion.

Thanked: 335I like the concept of the +1 (bugger on) and the -1 (bugger off) buttons. There are times when I don't feel particularly voluble and agree with above comments when the simple button punch would work well. Then there are other times when I agree with the comments above but still find no impetus to test my pathetic typing skills and agree that the bugger buttons would be a great plus, so to speak.
Thus I cast my vote yea, button up

Thanked: 1587I am not entirely sure it is up for debate is it? I thought Dave said he would put one on when he got the chance.
I see people's points regarding repeated posts or "+1"-ing ad-infinitum. However, in the time I have been here I really have not seen too much of the latter, although I suppose there has been a bit of the former (although, again, not too much).

Thanked: 328I actually misread this thread at first..I was thinking it was about a reputation system, which I was going to turn on this weekend. One which I should have done a long time ago.. Sorry for misreading.. We'll blame it on me doing it while I was at work *Which I probably shouldn't do *.
I am going to do that.. But I worry that we might have to many systems then for agreeing/disagreeing.. Rep points, thanks, and +1? What do you guys think?

Thanked: 335Fearing additional opprobrium, further not sayeth I.
But a plus(approval) or minus(disapproval) button would be a good thing.
Did I say that?

Thanked: 1903What you are looking for is called Reputation Management. One working Karma system for vbulletin (the software used in this forum) is e-steki Karma version 2.2 - vBulletin.org Forum
I strongly advocate such systems, as they help un-clutter the forum and give users the ability to hide or discard dis-interesting postings or authors. Given the moderately high volume of posts in this forum, I believe this to be a useful feature.

Thanked: 1587Bruce,
My apologies - I was not directing my comments at you in particular.
But now that we *are* debating the +1 button, in light of the new concept Dave mentioned I don't think it is necessary at all. Seems like a bit of a double-up to me if we will be able to allocate people or posts ethereal reputations. I'd imagine that any post that people felt the need to "+1" agree with would attract a similar "reputation" response. After all, your reputation will be on the line
