Thread: Site changes in the near future

Exactly, it is relatively easy. Relative with respect of reimplementing the feature from scratch, for example. If I'm to do it it'll still be a few hour job since I'm not a web programmer and have very superficial knowledge of the software we run. For somebody who has the experience it should be on the order of a 10-30 min job.
Of course, if anybody feels like improving that particular visibility with just a css I'll be more than happy to put the style changes in the vbulletin software.
Or, if you want to save a click just click on the link next to 'Blog Entries:' under their user info in the post you're looking at.Last edited by gugi; 07-12-2011 at 06:36 PM.

Thanked: 335I kinda like the signature lines, but as I have groused about before, what becomes comfortable always has to be changed. Now it's different with diapers which need to be changed because they are neither any longer comfortable nor pleasantly aromatic. There, then, change is a good thing. Here, I remain unconvinced.

Thanked: 235I remember when I first found SRP I arrived via a google search, so the first page I saw was a discussion about something. I would imagine that very few beginners would hear about SRP, type in the address and go straight to the main page. It actually took me some months to even look at the main page.
I commend your attempt to clean things up and do agree that the sig lines can be a bit distracting, but I'm wondering if this would make it more difficult for beginners to find their way to the beginners section and the wiki.
But, of course, we will find out over time.

While I understand the theory and desire to eliminate the signature line I still like them. If it weren't for Jimmy's many wouldn't have advanced as far as they have; if it weren't for Glen's many here would not know about the meets he has listed; I would prefer to be known by name here and don't like typing my name after every post; I like to see all the different clubs (razor brand or other) listed since I probably still don't know all of them. I guess I have mixed opinions on the subject and have all the respect in the world for what the developers here do and the choices they make.

Thanked: 13245Thanks Gerrit and we discussed things like Jimmy's and parts of mine, but we also have to continually monitor 1000's of them, then we have to contact the member and ask that they be removed...
Just for instance and no harm no foul here.. But Bassguy yours are breaking the rules, but not one Mod noticed them before right now, we would normally have to send a pm to you, and nicely ask if you could remove them. with no sig lines this is a mundane continual job the mods don't have to police...

Hi all,
I disabled sig lines. This had to be done per usergroup. None of the members or staff should have a sig line by now.
If you still see one, it's an oversight on my part, not an exemption for that user or group.
The blogs should also be publicly visible by now. Over the next days, more content will be appearing there.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.

Thanked: 335Wow! This is great. No more clutter. But... ??
Now, do we have a vendors' section where they who used to have signature links are listed in some fashion that identifies their names, products, and/or services? I could be listed under curmudgeons.
Oh, and the Quick Reply rectangle still has the box checked that says "Show your signature." Just thought you'd like to know...

Most vendors have a website which is listed in their profile.
Also, if you click on a username, you'll see things like 'send PM, send email, ' etc. There is also an option that sends you to the homepage of said person. For vendors, this will be their webshop. And it will also (probably) still be listed in their vendor thread.

What that box does is ask your preference for showing your signature, should you be allowed to show it.Til shade is gone, til water is gone, Into the shadow with teeth bared, screaming defiance with the last breath.
