Thanked: 3215I too find it average, and was disappointed when I first tried it after reading raving reviews.
I can get it to lather but with some work. I also am not a fan of the smell, it’s not offensive but not great either.
I do have hard water that makes lathering changeling. In short it is a decent soap that shaves well, but in my book there are better.

You know I really relate to this.
I too read the rave reviews, that must have type of thing, and when I received it, it was nice, no doubt about it, but I wouldn't have gone out of my way to get it.
That's one of the reasons I'm not jumping on getting some MDC, for the cost and the shipping, just don't want to end up feeling, "meh", it was nice, but????
Only soap I've tried, which was $23.00, that has really changed the equation and surprised me, was the Osma Shaving Soap with Alum, rich and creamy, lathers easily and richly, and the alum just gives it a kick that nothing else I've tried comes close to in terms of comfort, scent and after shave feeling. YMMV.

I once read someone mentioning the scent reminded him of a wet sheep. I totally agree. I own a water softener and reverse osmosis and it's still challenging.
Too much trouble while there are indeed much better soaps that not only perform but smell so much better.
For me MWF is average. The original soap bowl is lovely.

It's part of the "holy trinity" of soaps no but really, I think when people have issues with it, they just don't have enough water in their brush. You also don't have to get the dish, you can buy just the puck and grate it into whatever you want.

Thanked: 1195IMHO it's a top shelf soap. I must be one of the lucky ones, where no special tricks or secret passwords are required.
One of my all-time favourite shave combos is MWF followed by Musgo Real aftershave splash. If your face doesn't feel BBS after that you've done something wrong LOL

Thanked: 60This really is my stance, I use rainwater to lather (No running water here only rain water) its incredibly soft and lathering MWF is incredibly easy but I expected oh so much more considering the reviews. The smell is at best average, and I don't think its moisturising properties are good either when compared to some other much cheaper brands like Palmolive, Arko or Fauldings Shave.
It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness

Thanked: 1I agree Phrank, a little polarizing on this front. I feel I should buy a sample from Garry before diving in

Thanked: 1I'll always have some. It's in my top three: Mike's, Speick, MWF, in no particular order.
