To get around the scent issue, you could cheese-grate a stick into a bowl or jar and mash it up - add a little water and a few drops of essential oil of your choice. My favourite is peppermint, eucalyptus or lavender - but YMMV, obviously.

It's tallowate to the best of my knowledge so you can't just nuke it and pour - but mashing it up should work. I think that's right, please correct me if I'm talking rubbish.
