Thanked: 0I use CREMO cream with almost every shave. It is inexpensive and I get a nick average 2x a year, which I like. Here's how I use it. I have a Marvy rubber shaving mug with a ridge inside for holding round soaps. I put a Mitchells Wool Fat soap in the mug. When I'm ready to shave, I put an almond size drop of Cremo Cream in the mug. I then load my brush with the soap I'm going to use (be it hard, cream or whatever.) Once loaded, I then swirl the brush for about 30 seconds in the mug before face lathering. Why? Because the mix is still economical (the Mitchells & Cremo last about 6-8 months) and I consistently achieve perfect creaminess quickly with any soap and slick with NO nicks. I would appreciate all comment.

Thanked: 0Hi Bob, I enjoyed your post and the tag 'Uber lather'. I wish I'd looked more closely and found your post before I jumped in. Your descriptions are spot on and succinct.

Never thought about doing this but think its a very good idea.
In the past 6 years while being a member of SRP I have read about many different ways of mixing soaps, creams, essential oils, etc. and the different combinations of blades, scale material, etc. I have come to the conclusion that one is limited only by ones imagination as to what they do in this hobby. I have always enjoyed experimenting with different mixes of uberlather. It's like being in chemistry class again. I think I saw Cremo in WalMart. I'll have to give it a try.

Thanked: 0Pete, Target & Walgreens stock it-if you try it, let me know your result. I'm encouraged that knowledgable folks are perhaps at least discussing. Hadn't noticed any brush problems. Just a bit makes my skin so slick, and more water makes it more so-to a point

Thanked: 23This morning I was working up a lather with some Proraso red and added a little too much water. I remembered this thread so I threw in a little Cremo and came away with some nice foamy lather. Just wanted to thank everyone in the thread for the idea.

I use orange smelling Cremo in conjunction with Mama Bears 'Orange Orange Glycerin Soap'. Makes for a GREAT Uber Lather!
