Provence Sante is $10 or less per puck, and is as good as any soap, no matter what the price. For just a little more, Soap Commander and Sapone Di Paolo are very nice.

Haslinger inexpensive awesome soap as easy to use as tabac comes in better scent choices. Mikes natural soaps produce a very dense moisturizing lather a joy to shave with usually under 15 bucks depending on scent choice. Barrister and Mann and Queen Charlotte also nice stuff.
    Don't drink and shave!

Muhle Aloe Vera soap. Great scent, easy to get a good lather. $12 at West Coast Shaving.

Have you considered the world of artisan soaps. Opens up a whole new world of options. Check out companies like Soap Commander, Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements, and Barrister & Mann. They give you way more options in terms of scent and great performance.

Lots of options indeed. Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements in particular. Do they still have cyanide in their mixture? Or is it just Chinese melt and pour soap stock plus cheap fragrance oils these days? And does that quadrophenic ex-CIA operative still interview itself?

Get over yourself. Stop bringing up 2 year old drama. This should be a group of grown ups here. Not teenage girls

Ginger's Garden, the Enigma scent. I use the cream, but it has a great glide, the scent is incredible, and the price is right there ($19.95).

I think you're on to something David, Smells like teenage girls? Might be the name of a new PAA fragrance.

For something nice to try, I'd suggest Truefitt and Hill, Trafalgar is fantastic. DR Harris, Windsor is another favorite, and Penhaligon's, Sartorial is extremely nice, these are all amongst my favorites.

In terms of artisan soaps, my experiment with them was very educational, but in the end, I want to thoroughly enjoy each shave, and many of the artisan soaps just never made it past a second appearance for me, but again, it's all a matter of personal preference.

I've given DR Harris Windsor to friends a few times, and each of them thought it was magnificent, made them realize there is a whole world of high quality products available to turn a routine task into something truly enjoyable - good luck.
