Gentlemen,
Timeless Razors included a tub of its soap with my razor purchase and I must say I am impressed with the overall quality. The soap, produced for Timeless Razors by Oleo Soapworks of Chicago, uses all natural ingredients.
The powdery and clean fragrance is quite pleasant. The soap, which is on the soft side, lathers well and provides good cushion and glide. I like the residual slickness, too.
Even though I don't know much about this company, I went ahead and ordered two tubs of their soaps: Windy City Barbershop and Pelle Toscana. With some exceptions, I don't particularly care for artisan soaps. Oleo Soapworks (Oleo Soapworks) impressed me enough with the Timeless soap to try some of its other soaps.
In the meantime, I have put the Oleo Soapworks in the Second Tier.

Obie, THANKS so much for the info on the soaps and creams. I ended up with a bunch of Van Der Hagen shave soap, some I bought (12 pack) and my Daughter gave me a 12 pack for Christmas 2 years ago. I have plenty! However, it is the older "Green box" soap and not the newer Van Der Hagen soap one now sees in the stores like Walmart. They changed to formula in the new stuff and I don't like it. However, the older, and more difficult to find VDH is creamier. It is over 40% moisturizing ingredients as well as Aloe Vera and Shea Butter add in. No animal products, which means the "soap" portion was not made with animal tallow(fat), like common soap.
Was your "Basement" tier soap the older green box, Shea Butter & Aloe Van Der Hagen, or their new white box that did not have these ingredients?~~ Vern ~~

One I did not see in any of your listings was Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum shaving soap. I have the Bay Rum & Cedar one. The ingredients are: Coconut oil, Palm oil, Castor oil, Safflower oil, Glycerine and other ingredients that included Soybean protein and Shea Butter. Comes from a town, close to where I lived, called Ogallala, NE Western part of Nebraska. He started out making Old Bay Rum aftershave and rather expanded from there. Kind of like what happened to Cabela's in Sidney not far from Ogallala. Anyway, just thought I'd mention it to you if you ever had the inkling to try it sometime. Cowboys, driving cattle up from Texas north would bring them to Ogallala as it was a shipping point since the rail road went through that town. Many barbers giving the cowboys a straight razor shave used Old Bay aftershave before they departed to the saloons and other places there in Ogallala.
Started out kind of small in his garage, but the demand grew so much that he had to move into a building and sales have now spread to all 50 states and many other countries. Love his aftershave as it is very little alcohol, and mostly witch hazel and other spices in it.
If interested, here is the link, and shows the barbers all lined up. http://www.ogallalabayrum.com/ and no, I do not work for them or get any promotions or revenue.Last edited by Gibbs; 08-05-2017 at 06:12 PM.

Gibbs,
I tried the Genuine Ogallala Bay Rum some years ago and found it of overall quality. Unfortunately, I find the bay rum scent unpleasant. I mean, I just don't like that scent. So does my family — wife and two daughters. They made get rid of it, and I have avoided it since.

I thought id pull out something i havent used in a while. So dug under the sink and found some Sterling. Lathered it up and i have to say, thats zome good stuff. Last time i used it i really had no idea what i was feeling for as i was still in the beginning stages. Now i got a better understanding and i enjoyed it. Id say it was right up there will the MDC. You have to load the brush a little more but besidez that it was very close to the same.
Dont ban me for saying this as i know MDC is the best and i agree but the sterling was a very close runner up.It's just Sharpening, right?
