Yes, it does stream and it actually has an AP. I am waiting for the official announcement by the station before giving out specifics here. It is just an hour show with Mozart, Beethoven and all the other good guys. I think you will like the music. Stay tuned.

I have also started my third novel and we’ll see where that goes.
I am very sorry to hear of your profound loss. My deepest sympathies.

I am happy to hear that you are going back on the air. Radio is very near and dear to me. I probably listen to live radio shows 90 percent of the time when I am home, VS Television. My passion is live Jazz shows. I only listen to radio shows that have a live on-air personality (DJ) at the mic. I once had a radio gig, and in fact, did national radio ads at one time. You probably have heard me if you listened to commercial radio ads in the 90s.

I have a friend in Toronto that has been doing a weekly 5 hour Jazz Big Band show every Sunday evening since 1976. That makes him the longest running Jazz show broadcaster in history, and possibly the longest running radio show host in history. He has similar challenges to what you have been going through, and he says that the weekly radio gig keeps him going.

I am sure you will enjoy your work. I will also be listening if you care to post the station's call sign and day/time you will be on, once you get that finalized.

    Godspeed:

    -Billy

Thank you for the kind words, Billy.
I am sure I have heard you on the air. It’s a small world.
I myself started in jazz, in San Diego.
I am waiting for the official announcement before posting it.

    You are certainly most welcome.

    Jazz in San Diego. What a coincidence. I listen to KSDS Jazz San Diego quite frequently. It's one of my favorites. My "Top Five" live Jazz station list (in no particular order);

    KSDS - San Diego
    KCSM - San Francisco
    WDCB - Chicago
    CJRT - Toronto
    WUCF - Orlando

I'm currently streaming WDCB Chicago as I type this. "Jazz Oasis" with Steve Cushing from 6 AM - 7 AM Eastern every Sunday morning. With coffee.

Take care, and I'll be listening when you make the official announcement and get behind the Mic again.

Incredible: KSDS has been my to-go station for years. It's actually playing in the background right now

Coincidental, but then again, Jazz aficionados know good Jazz. We tend to migrate to the same watering hole. I really have searched around the internet for the last 15 or so years of streaming Jazz to find terrestrial FM stations that have live DJs whom know their business and play exceptional Jazz. KSDS does it right. The top five Live Jazz stations that I listed all do it right. I rarely stream beyond those stations.

Small world. My station was KDIG and it was in La Jolla. I understand the station is long gone. I was living in San Francisco, early 1970s, and just back from Vietnam, when I heard of an opening at the station. I sent them a tape, they called me and said to come for a live audition. They took me off the bus and on to the station. They took the announcer on the air at the time and told me to sit behind the mic and do it. I did. Must have kicked arse. I was applying for 6 PM to midnight show Sundays only. Instead they offered me the 8 to midnight show daily.

After that I worked at WEKT, upstate New York. The station is long gone. Then came KWMU, the NPR station in St. Louis. From there to WFMR, classical in Milwaukee; then to WUWM, the NPR station in Milwaukee. After that, WNIB, a classical station in Chicago that eventually sold and switched to rock. Then back to the classical station in Milwaukee for a short stint, and then called it quits around 2002.

It is 20 years since I was last behind the radio microphone. Oh, I have commercials and audio-visual narrations, but no radio. So I am really looking forward to it.

I knew some of the guys at WDCB. Now I stream some classical and jazz programs, but most of the time I listen to my own CDs. In fact, all the music on my show will come from my own collection. Should be fun. Stay tuned.

A very small world indeed. When I was living in Upstate NY, back in the 80s, the cable TV system there had their own Microwave link from New York City, and microwaved up from the city WQXR Classical NY, and pumped it into the FM specturm so you could listen with an FM tap tied to your tuner or receiver. Long before the internet or streaming. WQXR broadcasted form the Empire State Building and was called "The Radio Station of the NY Times" back then. I was addicted to listening that station for a few years. They would play Classical music, then the DJs would actually read key articles from The New York Times over the air. Literally, just read articles from the paper on the air. It sounds odd, but it was wonderful. You got to hear great Classical music, and "listen" to the NY Times articles at the same time, without having to buy a NY Times.

I know Bruce Oscar and Al Carter-Bey from WDCB Chicago. Remotely, not well. They are two of my favorite Jazz DJs. I know Glen Woodcock from CJRT Toronto fairly well, and we have had a pending "Dinner Date" to catch up for years. Covid got in the way of that. I know of few other Jazz DJs remotely from WUCF and KCSM.

I would like to get to know Ted Grossman at WLRN Miami a bit better. Ted is a vintage Jazz aficionado. He's been doing his show almost as long as Glen Woodcock at CJRT. Since 1978 ish? Something like that. Every Sunday from 8 to midnight eastern. Like you, he only plays his personal private collection. And it's astounding, along with his Jazz knowledge. He will sometimes play a very obscure live remote Jazz broadcast recording (or Aircheck as my Canadian friends would call it) and say how it was ultra-rare and you were probably only going to her it on his show, because it was a rare album he bought in the 50s or 60s as he was building his private Jazz collection.

Ted and Glen are obviously getting close to retirement. It will be a sad day for me when either announces their last day on the air. I have been recording Glen's show and Ted's show for many years, digitally. It's a decent archive. I'll have those shows to fall back on Sunday afternoons and evenings when they are enjoying retirement some day.

I still sometimes listen to WQXR via stream, but it's not the same station. All things change. But at least I have the memories.

Apropos classical music and WQXR: Although it's still more than two months away, now's as good a time as any to remind people that November (besides being some crazy "grow-a-moustache" month) is "Beethoven Awareness Month" at WQXR. You will obey... resistance is futile.

You can have everything, and still not have enough.
I'd give it all up, for just a little more.
