I actually quite like the metal tin. Great for travelling!

Yes, I have used the soap in the tin for travel and it works well. Good stuff.

Too bad GMS went second tier for you. I find it a great soap esp post shave. It is a soap that gets better with daily use and the puck stays hydrated. If I let it set idle for a few weeks the first few shaves produce weak lather.

    CrownCork,
Forgive me, but what is GMS?

Obie, green mountain soap perhaps? Not seen it in th UK to be fair. Still working my way up to try your other T1 choices. CrownCork I do think some soaps like to be softened a little sometimes i just put some water on the soap a few hours before, seems to work

+1 to this, anything that isn't a soft cream gets a few dribbles of water 5-20 minutes beforehand. Always works for me.

    Daro,
I use a little bloom water for all the soaps I use. The added water not only softens the soap, making it easy for loading the brush. I do this on the way to the shower.

Green Mountain is a good soap. For me, though, it is Second Tier. Don't forget, this is just my opinion.

Well Obie I have so far managed to sneak most of the T1's into my rotation without SWEMBO catching on. I have a new tin of Klar Seifen to try tomorrow and once I receive the final shipment of Alvarez Gomes (in the mail as we speak) I will have tried all your T1's. I must say this is a fine choice and so far the only one I am still on the fence with is XPEC, I was not sold on it initially but after giving it a rest it seemed better the last time out. This is indeed a great resource for both newbies and some that have experienced more soaps/creams. Once you have used a few T1's you do get a great idea on what the lather should be like. I don't intend to add much more now until I run these down a bit. Some I don't think I will buy again but do not regret buying any T1's so far as it has allowed me to pick out some great keepers... If you do ever get the chance to try the Gentlemans tonic shaving soap I would be interested to hear your views on it, for me it is definite a T1. I was surprised by it as I saw it in Fornum and Mason next to Castle Forbes soaps and had not heard of it before...

Thanks again OBIE, I expect many years of enjoyment from your recomendations...
