How old is your tube of Cade? I ask only because I heard that originally the tube of Cade was vastly inferior to the tub of Cade, but that later they changed the formulation of the tube to match the tub.

As far as manufacturing date? I have no clue but I got it as a gift about 1 year ago. If in fact it was reformulated I may buy it again but it would have to be real good stuff for what they are asking and I wouldn't bite without a sample. Again Cade is quite pleasant to the nose if they happened to get the lather on the same level they would have a winner.

I found a this soap in a Mustard Seed Market next to a bunch of Burt's Bees products. I thought I would search out a soap review on this forum. I was silly enough to try searching for "Badger Shave Soap" on this forum... I might as well have been searching for "Lather Soap..." Too many hits on the word Badger impeded my search.

The label indicates Bergamot, Vetivert, Aloe, Sandalwood, Cardamom, Vanilla, Black Pepper and Myrrh in a coconut and shea butter base.

The website is badgerbalm.com, so maybe I should try searching that.

Obie's recommendations were so good, I have absolutely no reason to pick up another soap!

A big thank you to Obie and Nelson for the Krokos recommendation! Been using it for a week solid answer having spectacular shaves. Doesn't take very much and it's boom, lather city. Bet this will last a long time.

From what I know of this soap, it receives positive reviews. I, however, have not tried it.

EDIT: I ordered two tubs of the soap, and will give my thoughts when I lather with it.

Gentlemen,

Abbate Y La Mantia's Vegano also goes up there in the First Tier of Soaps. Krokos and Crumiro are already up there. Laureato is lined up for tomorrow's shave. I am especially impressed with the moisture content of these soaps. The glide and the cushion are superb. I felt a tiny bit of burn with the Vegano, however, something the other two did not have, but I don't think that detracts from Vegano's overall quality. Good stuff, these soaps.

Edit: I should note that the fragrance of the Vegano is mild and pleasing. Clean.

Edit: Laureato has a robust fragrance, with a negligible hint of saffron, and with the oil of laurel leaves. I must say, I am not impressed with the fragrance; occasionally I smelled what I can only describe as car engine oil. On the other hand, the soap's moisture is supreme and the glide remarkable. This soap, however, gave me some burn and turned my face red.

Edit: Overall, these are excellent soaps, especially in their moisture content and their glide. The cushion is the weakest element in them. For me, Vegano and Laureato are weak in their aftershave qualities, too. The brand still deserve the First Tier stage, despite some minor shortcomings. For instance, Martin de Candre needs a wee bit more moisture, but it still has enough quality to fit the First Tier. Of Abbato Y La Mantia, the only one I will keep is Krokos; the others will go once finished.

Thanks for your thoughts, my friend, and for the kind words. Actually, I had been eyeing the soaps for a while and was intrigued by them. I am looking forward to trying them.
