Opinions on Stirling vary but many of us place them at Second Tier plus. I personally have a lot of love for Stirling's offerings, particularly the Gin & Tonic, and the owners are some of the nicest folks you could hope to meet.

I sampled the “Gentleman” and it was good indeed. Not a scent I care for, but a great performer.

If it performs well for you, then it’s a good soap, as anything else shaving related - if you’re impressed, that’s all that matters.

I think Sterling makes an excellent soap and it's reasonably priced. I like their Lime and my GF really likes the "Sharp Dressed Man"

I just placed an order for some Stirling Soap Co. (SSC) samples. Based on the reviews and feedback received on this forum I've decided to give them a try.
Members here were not kidding, Rod and Mandy (owners of SSC) provide outstanding customer service. Will gladly report after trying their product but at this point it will be repetitive. I must say that I'm very curious about their scents.

I have the Eskimo Tuxedo and Piacenza. I personally love the products. So I was supposed to see these listed a tier 3??

After shaving with MdC, baume, A.Gomez from your Tier1, I've decided to order a few samples of CF and DR Harris. At this point I'm just looking for a scent that suits me the most before committing to a full tub/puck.

A question regarding soap vs. cream for DR Harris. I know that you prefer soap is there a reason behind it?

Keep in mind that what is top tier soap for one person might be a loser for another. Obie has given us a great starting point but his preferences aren't universal, some soaps that he loves are a miss with a few users while stuff that is in his Third Tier some of us love, such as Stirling.

We all have our individual preferences. Recently I seem to recall a couple of the gents discussing the fact that all of the soaps in their personal top tiers are vegetal soaps. Great for them, and I'd agree that most of these lather more easily than tallow soaps, but I give a slight plus to tallow-based on the basis of face feel. That said, I don't really discriminate but see each as having its own virtues and sins.

As Srdjan pointed out, it's what you like that counts. If you look at this thread, and others like it, as resources where we share our thoughts instead of debates over which soap/brush/splash/razor/hone/etc. is best then you'll probably get a lot more out of SRP.

You can never go wrong with Castle Forbes cream or D.R. Harris soap. No shave den should be without at least one fragrance.

Actually, I like both soaps and creams, but find soaps more fun to lather with.

I 100% agree with this. I also find soap lathering a more traditional experience, although honestly, I don't know what came first, the soap or the cream.
When I started my wet shaving journey, I wanted to keep it as low tech and traditional as possible. It's why I'm exclusively a Kamisori guy too. Just give me a knife and a puck and I'm set!
