    Default My Top Five

    Gentlemen,

I update my top five shave soaps and creams periodically with the following in mind: that if the shaving world faces a drought, I would hope the five somehow survive. It has been a while since the last update.

What makes these products tops in my shave den is a combination of luxurious lather, fine cushion, silky glide, pleasing fragrance and stellar aftershave properties. The five not only meet my expectations, but they often exceed them.

Some products have been permanent residents, while others come and gone. My list has yet to contain what's referred to as artisan products, because, well, they are really not as good. Some artisan products are better than others, in my experience, but still not good enough to sit alongside of the following. As always, agree with it or not, this is only my opinion.

So here is the latest update of my top five soaps and creams, listed in no particular order.

    Martin de Candre
    Castle Forbes
    Xpec
    Baum.Be
    PannaCrema Nuavia Blu

Now, then, gentlemen, what are your top five?

Thanks Obie....darn...the PannaCrema Nuavia Blu made it eh?

That means I know what my next soap order will be....

For me, only three are unchallenged champions of the Top 5, I could list 10 others, but they'd be in no particular order. Surprisingly, the CF Lime is standing strong with me right now, and the Lavender is sublime, so:

    Martin de Candre
    Castle Forbes
    XPEC
    edited to add: Klar Seifen

I'll leave it at that to keep it to 5, or in my case, under 5....

Edited to add, yes Dieseld - how could I forget...the KLAR SEIFEN!!!

I'm with you on the first three. After that Acca Kappa Almond and Abbate-La Mantia saffron. Baum isn't top tier in my system cause the scent falls off compared to the others.

I'll add mine in here too.

Acca Kappa, White Moss Shaving Cream (yes Obie I will be sending you some soon, sorry for the delay)
Saponificio Varesino soap, a few scents
    Krokos Saffron soap
    Klar Seifen Soap
    Haslinger, Sandalwood soap

I have many more to try thanks to you fellas, but as of now these are my top 5

    Penhaligon's Blenheim Bouquet
    Tabac
    Taylor of Old Bond Street
    Baume Be

I'll leave # 5 open yet. With my hard water I rated them on performance only. Soap scents don't impress me but aftershave and cologne do. Week day shaves are done mostly with cheap soap concoctions while I save the above 4 for Sunday shaves.

    B&M
    Soap Commander
TFS (great base, don't like their scents, so I re-scented some)

    Rotated out this round:

Klar Seifen (great soap, hate the tall, thin soap cake
    Castle Forbes
    XPEC

Spendur, I still have not tried Acca Kappa, but I will. I, too, like Abbate Y La Mantia Krokos (saffron), although not more than Baum.Be. Interesting thing about Krokos is that it lasted a very short time for me.
